Reach the right place first
- Facing a taking and need counsel: use the free case review, not this page.
- Corrections, citations, and editorial questions: use the form below.
- We cannot answer questions about your specific case, and we are not your lawyer.
Most messages that reach this page fall into one of two groups, and they need different doors.
If you are facing a taking and want a lawyer
Use the free case review rather than this form. It routes to counsel who handle condemnation for property owners, and it asks the questions an attorney needs in order to tell you whether your situation is time sensitive. Deadlines in eminent domain arrive early and they do not wait for correspondence.
Start with a free case review
No obligation, and it reaches someone who can actually assess your deadline.
Get Your Free Case ReviewEditorial questions and corrections
We would rather be corrected than be wrong quietly. If a guide cites a statute that has been amended, states a deadline that no longer matches the code, or attaches a source that does not support the sentence, write to us and we will check it against the primary source and update the page. Please include the page address and, if you have it, the citation you believe is correct.
We also read suggestions for coverage. If your state has a rule that owners keep getting caught by, that is exactly the sort of thing we want to write about.

What to expect
We read every message. We cannot give legal advice, review documents, estimate what your property is worth, or tell you whether a particular offer is fair, because doing any of that responsibly requires a licensed attorney who has seen your file. If your message describes an urgent deadline, we will point you back to the case review rather than let it sit in a queue.
Writing to us does not create an attorney client relationship, and nothing you send through this page is protected by attorney client privilege. Do not send confidential documents here.
